FANCY BLUE DIAMONDS
Among the world’s most rare and valuable gemstones, blue diamonds hold a place at the very pinnacle. Their ethereal colour and exceptional scarcity make each discovery, no matter the size, an extraordinary event. Found in only around 0.02% of all natural diamonds, they are among the rarest of all diamond colours.
The value of a blue diamond is largely defined by the depth and intensity of its colour. Stones displaying a vivid, pure blue, particularly those graded as fancy intense, are especially coveted, commanding remarkable prices in the market.
This mesmerising hue is the result of boron atoms present during the diamond’s formation, a rare occurrence that gives rise to their distinctive colour. The presence of boron also reveals something remarkable about their origin: blue diamonds are formed at extraordinary depths, approximately 400 miles beneath the earth’s surface, far deeper than most other diamonds.
A true marvel of nature, a blue diamond is as rare as it is captivating.
